RANT

Everyone is always asking me why I'm angry, so here it is people...

It's a film thing. I'm pissed off by the way that movies are going. Independent Film is a fashion statement. It doesn't mean shit except as a marketing tool or a label. You have all of these rich people or the kids of famous directors making "independent movies". They spend like 10 or 15 million dollars on a star, shoot in a foreign country, test the movie in front of audiences, come up with a multi million dollar marketing campaign...

That's having a vision?

That's bullshit and all of those people can kiss my ass!

I'm sure there's a few people who work in the Independent mainstream ("Indiewood")and keep some control. I just don't know who they are besides John Sayles... And he is a treasure! I think everyone else is a bunch of fakers. But they'll tell you I'm just pissing and moaning because I don't have a wider audience, or money.

Well maybe I am. It would be nice to have some money, be able to pay my bills on time. But to put up with all of the bullshit that some of those people put up with... I think I'm too cranky, or too independent.

I think I'll just keep making movies and distributing them myself. Like I have a choice...
